It is the natural process like others that happens when the ovaries age. A female when start with menopause will produce fewer hormones like estrogen, testosterone, progesterone, follicle-stimulating hormone, and luteinizing hormones. When ovaries get old, they do not release eggs leading to the absence of menstruation.

Menopause can also happen when females take certain medications or undergo surgeries. Sometimes ovaries are removed surgically because they stop functioning. Pelvic injuries can also cause menopause that leads to the damage of ovaries.

To check for the menopause, we conduct these tests at our clinic:

1. Thyroid Function Test.
2. Serum FSH/ Serum LH
3. Estrogen Levels

To control the bleeding during menopause, we prescribe our patients some medicines or hormone therapies. It helps in regulating estrogen and progesterone which further controls bleeding. Sometimes a telescope may be inserted to look inside and take some biopsies.

After the D&C surgery, you will have to take rest for 1 or 2 days and then return to your daily routine. You can also observe mild vaginal discharge but that will be normal.

No, the D&C surgery does not always involve any risk. But sometimes, it may cause :

1. Puncture of the uterine wall.
2. Infection.
