SONOGRAPHY

You have always been healthy but from the past few days a body pain starts bothering you. You were not hurt but the pain persists? Or you are pregnant and need confirmation on your baby's health. If yes, then you must immediately see a doctor. To confirm the cause of pain from your symptoms, the doctor will recommend you for sonography.

SONOGRAPHY

The word is common and widely used. Even the youngsters would know it. But it must be known to you that how does a sonography help? Sonography creates images of soft tissue structures, such as gallbladder, liver, kidneys, bladder, pancreas, and other body parts.

For pregnant women, sonography helps to track the development of organs and growth of baby in pregnant women. Using the sound waves, the ultrasound imaging machine creates a picture of inside the body. Sonography helps doctors to locate swelling or any existence of infection in the internal organs of your body.

Sonography is the procedure that uses sound waves to acertain the cause of pain, swelling or infection in the body. A transducer sends sound waves through the body. When these sound waves come in contact with the tissues, body fluids, and bones, the waves bounce back. You can call it as an echo. The transducer receives this echo and creates images for the sonologist to record the condition of the body organs.

Sonography is used to view the fetus present inside the uterus. It is important to monitor the development and health of the fetus at different stages. Sonography also helps to detect congenital anomalies(i.e. any birth defects).

We conduct sonography on females to check the position of their placenta, the amount of amniotic fluid in the uterus, and the number of fetuses.

At our clinic, the doctor will suggest for 3-D sonography to get the three-dimensional image of the baby. For you, the test results will bring the image of the face of the baby. But for our doctor’s it will show certain birth defects like cleft palate. It is done majorly when the signs of defect occur on the normal ultrasound or sonography.

According to us, the best time to get 3-D sonography is between 20-34 weeks.

An ectopic pregnancy is confirmed by USG. In ectopic pregnancy the fetus is implanted in the fallopian tubes outside the uterus. The transvaginal sonography helps to confirm the ectopic pregnancy. At our clinic, the doctor takes care of hygiene. For the transvaginal sonography, our specialist will use the transducer covered with a condom. It will be lubricated before inserting it into the vagina.

The transducer bounces off the sound waves in your internal organs and transmits the pictures of organs inside.

Some women do not feel any pain in the transvaginal sonography procedure. It is just a little irritating when the transducer is inserted in the vagina.

A woman may need a follicular scan to identify when does she ovulate. It helps to pinpoint when a follicle ruptures and releases an egg. It suggests when should a woman have intercourse as the best chance for conception.

Other than the normal abnormalities, transvaginal sonography helps to detect:
• Cancer of the reproductive organs
• Routine pregnancy
• Cysts
• Ectopic Pregnancy
• Miscarriage
• Placenta Previa
• Pelvic Infection
• Miscarriage.
